I am writing to extend my highest recommendation for Owner Team Consultation (OTC). This organisation has demonstrated exceptional expertise and professionalism in project auditing and Due Diligence (DD) services for the Mining and Development Corporation of Botswana. 

MDCB, a minerals and mining investment holding company, was set up to play a pivotal role in managing and developing mining interests on behalf of the Government of Botswana (GrB), with a mandate only to optimise returns from its interests but also to ensure that they are managed in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. In this context, OTC was appointed for multiple project reviews and audits, integral to MDCB’s investment strategies. 

The scope of OTC’s engagement covered a wide array of due diligence activities, including but not limited to target management team assessments, market and commercial evaluations, deep project and operational technical reviews, financial scrutiny, and environmental impact reviews. Their involvement was pivotal in three major projects during my tenure at MDCB: 

 Morupule Coal Mine Operational Review: Conducted a thorough Technical and Commercial Due Diligence, encompassing business operations (coal mining and processing), capital and expansion projects, sales, markets and logistics, target leadership dynamics, and company commercials, including environmental and closure plan review. 

 Botash Botswana Operational Review: Conducted a thorough Technical and Commercial Due Diligence, encompassing business operations (brine mining and processing and logistics), capital and expansion projects, sales, markets including competition, leadership and shareholder dynamics, company commercials including environmental and closure plan review. 

 Project Moso: Focused on Technical and Commercial Due Diligence for a then-new copper mine development in the Kalahari Copper Belt, evaluating the local entity within a broader international group. The DD included detailed reviews of the planned Greenfields capital expansion project and its planned operational set-up (open-pit copper mining and processing), markets and logistics, target leadership and shareholder, and proposed business plan, including an environmental and closure plan review. 

Throughout these engagements, the OTC team exhibited: 

 Extensive, practical experience across multiple sectors, including oil and gas (some assistance with CBM was also provided beyond the above projects), chemicals and chemical processing, mining, beneficiation, and energy. 

 Exceptional professionalism, offering constructive, insightful advice that frequently extended beyond their mandated scope. 

 Strong collaborative skills, ensuring seamless integration and coordination amongst all involved parties. 

 Outstanding leadership and communication abilities, complemented by adept problem-solving skills, making them highly capable in both broad conceptual and detailed due diligence processes. 

 The ability to quickly identify key issues and opportunities during reviews, site visits, and management presentations. 

 A consistent pattern of delivering results that exceeded the scope of their mandates.
